I was working out like everyone told me to. The trainers and the magazines all said some variation of 3 sets of 10 repetitions with all sorts of exercises. If I tried this cable movement or that machine, or this variation of one exercise and that one with the crazy name, then I would stimulate massive growth.

I followed every bit of advice I could find. Trying different workouts every few months. I sure got sore A LOT, but never really seemed to grow.

Later on, I found out a lot of my heroes took steroids, and so did some of my friends. Heck, even some of the personal trainers did! I refused to believe the only way I wouldn't be skinny anymore was by taking drugs.
